Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food is a complete food for growing puppies. Esbilac 2nd Step Weaning Food may be mixed with water; however, for a more gradual change from bitch’s milk to a solid diet it is recommended that it be mixed with Esbilac. Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food should be fed until puppies are 7 to 8 weeks old when they can be fed commercial puppy or dog food. All changes should be made gradually over a one week period.
Puppies that are on their feet and able to lap out of a bowl are ready for introduction to Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food. Weigh the puppies at least once a week to monitor weight gain and adequacy of feeding. More or less food may be needed by individual puppies to satisfy their food requirements for optimum performance. Consult your veterinarians for additional advice.

Determine the daily amount of Esbilac 2nd Step powder to be fed to the puppy using the information on the label. Reconstitute powder by using three parts (a part is any measuring device used, a teaspoon, tablespoon, or cup) of water to one part powder for the first few days. This will make a thin gruel. As puppies grow decrease the amount of water mixed with the powder until weaning food is an oatmeal consistency. Remove the uneaten portion within two hours.
