Omega-3 fatty acid supplements made from fish oils are commercially available in three distinct forms and vary greatly in bio availability.
TRIGLYCERIDE: The vast majority of Omega-3 fish oil products are in the triglyceride form. These triglyceride Omega-3 fish oils contain as little as 30% EPA and DHA per gram.
ETHYL ESTER : This type of fish oil is "esterfied" using the solvent ethanol and represents approximately 15-20% of all Omega-3 fish oil sold. While ethyl ester Omega-3 fish oil provide approximately 50% EPA and DHA per gram, they are the most difficult to absorb into the blood stream.
FREE FATTY ACID : The free fatty acid form is the result of a unique patented process that removes non-beneficial components of fish oil, thereby providing more EPA and DHA per gram. The free fatty acid form has been clinically proven to be more efficiently absorbed than the ethyl ester and triglyceride form.

I have been given my 12 year old shih tzu 3v caps in his food for almost a year and ever since then I've noticed such a difference in his mood and energy level. He's happy, healthy and as energetic as a puppy. He also has major allergy and skin problems and I feel a lot better giving him omega 3 as an anti-inflammatory than harmful steroids or antihistamines. Plus it's good for his heart, brain and renal health. I believe the 3v caps along with regular exercise has played a big part in his youthful energy.
