Denosyl, a nutritional supplement, is the pure and stabilized salt of S-Adenosylmethionine for veterinary use only. It is the only brand researched in medical trials for veterinary use in dogs and cats.
S-Adenosylmethionine is an endogenous molecule synthesized by cells throughout the body and is formed from the amino acid methionine and ATP. It is an essential part of three major chemical pathways in the body.
Denosyl has been shown to increase hepatic glutathione levels in cats and dogs. Glutathione is a potent antioxidants that protects hepatic (liver) cells from toxins. A study found that low liver glutathione concentrations are common in dog and cats with decreased liver function.
For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. For those owners who have difficulties administering tablets to their pets, this medication maybe disguised in a small bite of food. Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a "dry swallow" do not pass into the stomach in cats, but may become lodged in the esophagus. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the table into the stomach. Denosyl 9- mg tablets are ideal for cats because of their small size.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep tablets in original blister pack until used. Tablets are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat and should not be split or crumbled.
What does the liver do?
The liver participates in many activities within the body. It helps the digestion of food through production of bile and helps change digested foods into substances used by the body for energy and growth. The liver also helps process some medications into material(s) that can be used by the body; the liver may assist in eliminating medications from the body once they have had their effect. The liver stores vitamins and minerals and works with sugar (carbohydrates, glucose), fats and proteins. It also helps maintain proper blood clotting and removes many body toxins from the blood. Without proper liver function, the pet's health is compromised.
Because it does so much, the liver may be subject to many things: injury, both direct and indirect, infection, and toxicity. Some of the signs and symptoms of compromised liver function in pets may include: weakness, vomiting, poor appetite, and/or seizures. But if there is mild or early stage liver compromise, the pet can appear normal. If you notice any of these symptoms or your pet is just acting differently, you should contact your veterinarian. Many veterinarians run screening tests for middle aged and older patients during the annual examination to ensure that organ function is normal.
So glad I can save a bit of money on my senior buddy's meds by getting these online.
Good product by Pauline02/12/2008
Again, my vet prescribes this, in combination with Marin, for my two pomeranians who have had elevated liver enzyme issues - One was elevated over 3000, over 10 times the normal high, and after a week, the reading was 900 - pretty good drop for a week. We are continuing on this medication (with Marin) for the meantime. In a couple weeks we will have more bloodwork to see how much more the level has dropped. Again, do check with your vet IF your dog has liver problems before giving this just to make sure it might not aggravate an existing condition. Otherwise if there are no existing health problems, it would be a good support herbal "medication" for the continue well being of your dog's liver.

Life Saver! by CinderellaMoments from Texas03/16/2012
This product is incredible. Denosyl along with a special dry food diet saved my Yorkies life. She was at deaths door due to her malfunctioning liver. Now she's back to being a healthy, happy, playful dog. And the price on this site is the best I've found anywhere.
Excellent Supplement for my Dog's Liver by Angie from Albuquerque, NM11/30/2011
I'v been using this supplement for while. A year ago, my beloved Benji was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and the vet put him on phenobarbital and other drugs. Unfortunately, long term treatment with phenobarb WILL cause liver damage, it is the reason why I'm using this supplement, to strenghten his liver. Every time he gets blood work done, our vet his liver is in very good shape. This is mostly due to the Denosyl. I'm very happy it's helping Benji's liver!
Working Well by westcaldwellmom from North Jersey03/07/2012
My vet recommended Denosyl for my 12 year old Shitzu whose liver is not functioning as well as it once was. I use Denosyl with this diet: white rice, oatmeal and I/D Low Residue dog food. It's working well. My dog is peppier and has no diarrhea.
Awesome Product by Katie from Valdosta, Ga01/23/2012
The Denosyl is an excellent product and the pricing is much better than at my local vets office. My dog, Zack, has been on this product for over a year and has done very well on it.
Denosyl by tsmith3 from Murfreesboro,TN11/14/2011
This product is very good for helping keep liver levels in check with your older pet. I have been using this for years and my pet is doing fine. Would recommend it -
My only issue is with Entirely pets and how they send your order. They put it in a soft package and the boxes of meds gets smashed in shipment. I have complained a couple of times but nothing has changed. They offer good prices but their shipping lacks standards.
Denosyl is amazing by Pj from Miami, Fl04/21/2012
I have been giving Denosyl to one of our cats since it was diagnosed with hyperthyroid issues.
So when another of the cats became sick ,stopped eating and vet couldn't help, we thought we'd try denosyl. Within a week a cat that seemed to be at the end of life was back to its old self! We now supplement with Denosyl 3x weekly and our old boy is looking great.

Denosyl a miracle drug for my cats by Sue from Milwaukee, WI10/24/2011
When my first cat developed kidney problems I thought she didn't have long to live. Our vet put her on Denosyl. Within 4 months she had gained back all her weight and was acting like herself again. Then our second cat started with liver problems a year later and was put on Denosyl. Again she gained some of her weight back and her liver is once again functioning normally. Denosyl has greatly improved our cats lives and I would recommend it to anyone whose cats are having kidney or liver problems.
