Useful instead of toothpaste for brushing by Karen from Cleveland, Ohio06/28/2012
I ordered this by mistake instead of Biotene Water Additive. I was going to send it back but decided to give it a try as a mouthwash for my Maine Coon.. I typically use a gauze pad with toothpaste to "brush" his teeth as it gives me better control in his relatively small mouth as opposed to using a brush. Squirting it into my cat's mouth was not kindly received so I saturated the gauze pad with it and rubbed his teeth and gums down per my usual application technique. Doing so wet his mouth down almost as much as directly applying into the mouth and I had the added benefit of an abrasive cleaning via the pad. Biotene is a brand that my vet recommends (and I use the water additive too) so I feel confident that the product is doing what it is supposed to do. Since I just started this regimen, it is too early to tell how much benefit these products are having.
Excellent by Sue03/10/2009
This product works great! The fizzing action at the gumline shows you that the enzymes are activly cleaning the teeth. This product works best when rubbed directly on the teeth and gums with a sponge applicator to allow for maximum contact time. Hold your dog's muzzle closed as you apply to the outer surfaces so the tonque is not immediately licking it off.
Probably excellent by sue from Berkeley, CA02/04/2010
I wrote the first review because I think this product is excellent for dog teeth cleaning. However, I have recently become concerned about the zinc gluconate ingredient in light of the recent recall of Zicam zinc nasal spray for humans. Apparently, zinc is great at killing bacteria and viruses and also at killing your nerve cells. I would like to know if the level of zinc in this product is high enough to be of concern for the taste buds of my dog. Until the company convinces me that zinc is safe for oral and nasal use, I think maybe it is wise to limit the use of this rinse. Biotene also makes a "maintenance gel" which has the enzymes but not the zinc (check the ingredient label before quoting me on this). I will switch to the gel just to be on the safe side. Sue

C.E.T. AquaDent- good stuff by Julius1944 from Nevada11/23/2012
My veterinarian first gave me a bottle of this when one of my cats had dental problems. It heals minor soreness, and really makes a difference in bad breath issues. It won't take the place of regular dental care, but seems to speed healing.

DO NOT GIVE THIS TO YOUR PET by Ant from Houston, TX12/19/2012
Xylitol, which is one of the ingredients in C.E.T. AquaDent is toxic to pets and can cause serious side effects and even death. My Vet recommended it and evidently they are unaware of this information, so I am informing them along with any pet owners I know, not to add this to their pets drinking water.

Good Dental Care Product by Susan from Phoenix, AZ02/01/2012
My vet recommended I use AquaDent in addition to brushing teeth and the prices at Entirely Pets are the best I found. I mix a quart each morning and put in their water bowl. I have noticed less tartar buildup since I started using.
The only negative comment I have is: be sure to follow the dilution instructions on the bottle and remember to change the water bowl everyday. At the correct dilution, the pet will not notice the mint/strange-to-them flavor. Brushing is best, but this is a good alternative, especially if combined with other dental care activities/products by CET.

While I am sure brushing Molly's teeth would have been the best way to go, I think using Aqua Dent is very helpful in reducing the amout of buildup on her teeth. It's easy to use, she seems to have no objection to it and I have noticed her breath is fresher. When you are 14 years old (91 by our standards) you don't need any hassles.

Amazing Stuff by Ro06/07/2010
One of our larger dogs had such bad breath he practically knocked us off our feet. In addition, he had lots of plaque on his teeth. The vet would not do dental work on him because of his health and she suggested this product. It has been magical. His bad breath is completely gone and in addition, most of the plaque that yellowed his teeth has also disappeared, we can hardly believe those bright white teeth belong to our darling "Love."

No Luck - Might be for the best. by Bill08/15/2012
I have tried several times to introduce this rinse to my two girl kittys' water bowl in a very, very diluted fashion with no success. Both went on strike and won't get near the water bowl. I'll have to admit too that in retrospect, I am not so sure adding these chemicals to their drinking water is all that great an idea anyway. If your Vet recommends you try it as mine did, I would suggest to him/her that they carry this product along with their other pet food & supplies (my Vet does not) and for a small fee, allow you to try a sample before you invest $19 like I did. I think we will stay chemical free. Would not be the first time I have come to the conclusion that my animal friends have way better common sense than most humans I know.

Dog got cramps/diarrhea by Ace's mom from glendale, az01/18/2013
Our vet gave us a sample of this product when my dog's teeth were cleaned. All was fine until I used up the sample. By the time I started him on the bottle I purchased, I couldn't continue using it. My dog was getting up several times at night to go outside. I think it's the Xylitol artificial sweetener. It did make his breath fresher & it's supposed to cut down on tartar. He's 10 yrs. old & had trouble with anesthesia (blood pressure dropped during his teeth cleaning) so it's dangerous for him to get anesthesia again. I was trying to avoid getting his teeth cleaned so often but cannot use this product. I will have to try to brush his teeth (good luck!) It may be worth a try but my dog couldn't use it & I wasted my money.

This product was recommended by my vet after two of my cats had dental cleanings done due to gingivitis. The vet said this would help to keep that away, and it has been at least 4 years since my cat has had to have another cleaning. My other two cats also "use" it and don't have issues with their teeth. So it does seem to work.

It's hard to tell if this product is actually doing anything. I don't see much of an improvement in my dogs' teeth, although they aren't getting worse either. I brush their teeth daily think that has more of a positive effect on them than the water additive.

Brushing pet teeth can be dangerous. by Otto'sslave from Hartford, Ct.11/18/2012

Xylitol is toxic to dogs by Susan Porter02/05/2009
It is now common knowledge that Xylitol is very toxic to dogs. It causes a dangerous drop in their blood sugar. It is incomprehensible that Virbac has Xylitol in this product. If it is in high enough concentration to disrupt the sugar metabolism of the periodontal microbs than I assure you it is bad for your dog. Why find out how big a dose is lethal?

Worst experience ever with an internet purchase. by none of your business10/14/2013
Worst experience in many years of internet purchases. I ordered thee bottles of aquadent , and received three bottles, two of them half empty, due to broken seals. I wrote to EP, and they promised to replace both of the damaged bottles, but shipped only one bottle. I wrote another letter to request the second bottle. I got a smarmy reply, a promise to ship the third bottle, and----nothing.

ZYLITOL KILLS by pommombjw from Florida06/15/2010
There is NO way I would even try this product because it has ZYLITOL in it. I lost one of my pomeranians to zylitol a few years ago and I would not wish that experience on my worst enemy. Not all dogs would be affected by the amount used in this product but why take a chance on your dog? I wish the manufacturers would take it out and replace it with something that is not harmful to ANY animal. Here is a pic of the baby that lost her life to ZYLITOL.

Works, but would prefer flavorless formula by zeusie from Indianapolis, IN01/01/2013
My cat has very severe kidney failure and the condition has made his breath really bad. Apparently the condition affects his saliva. I want to prevent dental issues caused by this condition and bought the Vet Dentahex oral rinse to help. His breath is definitely better after applying the rinse, so I have to assume it's working. I suspect he really hates the mint taste; I would prefer it be a tasteless formula to eliminate this aspect since it's hard enough to hold him still to squirt the stuff in his mouth. I'm holding off on giving it more stars until his next dental check-up to see how well the product works between visits.

Dentahex: wait and see? by PJ from Hill Country, TX10/10/2013
A very trusted DVM friend insisted I use Dentahex with my little rescue Dachshund. She had scaling and many teeth extracted less than a year ago, and is already needing another cleaning. My DVM says this product would significantly decrease (if not eliminate) need for scaling - and therefore might not be suggested by other vets since scaling is a pretty good revenue stream in many vet settings. My dog hates it: she fights application and after is really not happy with me. I tasted it: it's terribly bitter - so I don't blame her for being resistant. It remains to be seen if the product works as well as it's been suggested.

I like the concept of this product. I like that pet parents are trying to prevent dental problems in their fluffy children but I dislike the food colorings and all the other unnecessary additives it contains. My vet was concerned about my dog's teeth and wanted to schedule an expensive cleaning. I decided to try this first. The dog's mouth odor was gone in just 2 days! It's been a week and her teeth are already whitening. Being frugal, she is only 25 lbs so I decided to use 1/2 the recommended amount and we got the same results promised, so now I can make it last longer. AWESOME PRODUCT! by Grandma04/13/2013
My 4 cats' breath was really concerning me, as were their gums; they looked irritated. I found Evorapet doing a search for oral probiotics. I was having a very hard time applying a cleansing enzymatic gel to their gums and teeth. Cats are not the easiest creatures for that! Evorapet is very easy to use, just sprinkle & mix with wet food ( I don't feed them kibble ) and that's it. No hassle, no struggle, no having your cat run away from you. A whole scoop seemed to much for their small mouth so, I use only half the amount. In a matter of 2 weeks, my cats' breath and gums changed completely. They smell great, their teeth look clean and white and their gums are normal pink. I am up to the 3rd jar and I tell everyone about it. I work at a veterinary hospital and see a lot of dental procedures done. They are not only costly but also, stressful for the animals who have to be sedated, hooked to iv fluid and the procedure only deals with removal of what's there. It doesn't keep teeth and mouth clean afterwards. Highly recommend it to everyone with cats or dogs. I also use it for my chihuahua. Awesome product!

Evorapet oral probiotic powder really made our 4 dogs' breaths go from moderately smelly to almost no smell. I was just using dental cleaning pads, but now that i added this probiotic, their breath is so much better! All the dogs' teeth were cleaned over the Summer, and this product combined with doggie dental wipe pads keeps the plaque to a minimum. I gave some to each of my daughters, who each have 3 dogs, 6 dogs total. Their dogs all showed major improvement and have either mild or no bad breath at all. It worked on our 10 dogs and I highly recommend it.

While it's too early using this product, it DOES seem to help clean the teeth somewhat.
Teeth in the front were a little off color, now they sparkle in the sun.

Great product by Bea09/11/2014
My dogs had bad dog breath, and were on the border, as far as whether or not they needed cleaning soon, per my vet...So, I tried this. He said it might extend the time between cleanings, too. The breath problem disappeared a couple of months after I started adding it to their water. I did a test with a bowl with Zymox in it next to a bowl of plain water; they chose the one with the Zymox.
It works!!! by petlover from Miami, FL08/21/2013
I have no time for a detailed long review Yet I wanted to give this product the credit it deserves. IT WORKS! and it works fast.
IT REALLY WORKS. TRI'S TEETH OR SO WHITE IT LOOKS LIKE HE HAS DOGGY DENTURES. WISH IT CAME IN A LARGER SIZE.
Awesome stuff by Georgia03/16/2014
We started using Zymox oral care and all 5 of our cats, ranging from a kitten to a 12 year old, have fresh breath. I hope when they go for checkups the vet is impressed. I am. No red gums, no yellow teeth.

Oral care by Yid10/23/2013
My two Yorkies don't seem to notice anything different about their water. It's only been a week since I started using it so I don't know the long term benefits but just the fact that they are drinking it is a good sign
Improvement Noted by Greytdad from Hooksett, NH07/06/2013
We're still working on our first bottle of Oratene, but I feel we've already seen some improvement in regard to receding tarter and plaque. Our two dogs gums and teeth were not that bad (one of them had recently had a dental) and neither had bad breath, but I can still see it's helping keep them in good shape. Going to order another bottle.
Really seems to work! by tbone from Arizona06/11/2014
I use this product following the directions on the bottle and it has really seemed to make a difference. My dog's breath isn't stinky anymore!!!

Good price on this website. by Luann from Wisconsin01/14/2014
Not really sure how to rate this product. Vet recommended it five years ago after dental cleaning. My dogs have used it continuously for five years. Each year vet comments about tartar buildup, and this year they'll need major dental cleaning again. So obviously, it didn't alleviate the tartar problem, but neither vet or I am able to determine whether it helped or not. That is, even though teeth are bad now, would they have been worse if not used? So, a neutral reference !

My dogs needed something to combat the plaque on their teeth. The Vet recommended this stuff. Does it work? I don't know. I'll find out at their next check up. EntirelyPets has the best price for it, bar none.
GREAT RESULTS by ESKIMODAD03/17/2014
AFTER SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW MY DOGS VET RECOMMENDED THIS.
I PLACE IN HIS WATER HE DOESN'T NOTICE ANYTHING, IT DOES HELP WITH HIS BREATH BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I'VE NOTICED HOW IT ACTUALLY DOES HELP DETRACT ANY BUILD-UP ON HIS TEETH.
HE'S A 14 YEAR OLD AMERICAN ESKIMO AND PREDESPOSED TO TEETH ISSUES, ALONG WITH BRUSHING I HAVE SEEN RESULTS LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH ANY OTHER ITEM, GLAD I'M ON AUTO-SHIP

Great product, great pricing and service. Helps maintain good dental health in our pets.
Great Product by Westie Owner from Canada10/20/2013
Oratene is a wonderful and cost effective product for getting rid of plaque build up and keeping dogs' teeth and gums clean and healthy. The product is simple to use by squirting a couple pumps of oratene into the waterbowl. With regular daily use of the product, the plaque on the dog's teeth disappears. We love this product and have used it for a couple of years. As a result of its effectiveness, our dogs have not had to go to the vet to have their teeth cleaned!
Oratene by sjpfl05/11/2013
Used at the direction of our DVM after having all 3 dogs teeth cleaned. Maintains the flora in their mouth and cuts bad breath. Simple to use and fast quality service from Entirely Pets.

I have a 3 year old shi tzu who has been on Orarene since she was about 3 months. Her teeth sparkle and do not have scum on them. Her breath is always fresh and she always gets a great teeth check up from her Vet . Great product. Now our daughter uses the product to.
Great product by Babs from Albuquerque, NM01/07/2014
We have a cat with chronic gingivitis, which started when she was about 6 months old. We were using a drinking water additive at the time the gingivitis developed, and since that time we have been trying just about every water additive on the market. The ones that helped her mouth tended to be minty flavored and generally not appreciated by our other cats, so we have been frustrated and concerned trying to find just the right product. Finally, I stumbled upon the Oratene, which has no flavor, is accepted by all our pets, and seems to be working well. For the gingivitis kitty we also use the Oratene maintenance gel to keep her gingivitis in check and her gums healthy. We are on our second bottle of the drinking water additive and I am sold for life.

Oratene Drinking Water Additive by Olivia's Mother from Philadelphia suburbs, PA02/25/2014
I have never got around to brushing my dogs' teeth more than once a year, and apparently never will. I started using Oratene about a year ago on my vet's recommendation (ok, it was more of a direct order.) At the next appt. I sheepishly waited for her to tell me we needed to schedule a cleaning. Instead, she told me both dogs' teeth looked great, and all they needed was a little chipping away at tartar buildup here and there! No anesthesia, no huge vet bill. Is Oratene the reason for our reprieve? I do not know for sure, but I do know we will continue to use it. I'm sold. It seems to work for us! So far, so good. :)
recommended by my Vet by Paul from Belmar from Belmar, NJ05/26/2014
The puppy doesn't taste it at all so it's easy to administer. It is slow acting but I'm seeing improvement and her breath is better. I'm using it in conjunction with Oratene gum gel which has beaten back the puppy's swollen gums.
Fabulous Deal by cheese from Singapore08/22/2013
As most pets are aversed to having their teeth brushed, this product do wonders to keep their breath fresh and prevent plaque, thus helping to maintain good oral hygiene. The packaging was properly sealed. To top it all, the delivery was made within a short span of 8 to 10 days upon confirmation of order, all the way from US to Singapore! I would certainly recommend Entirely Pets to all my friends. Thank you for this amazing product.
SO SO by ESKIMODAD from NYC03/11/2014
MY 14 Y/O AMERICAN ESKIMO HAD A DENTAL CLEANING 2 MONTHS AGO AND RECOMMENDED THIS, I REALLY DON'T SEE ANYTHING TO JUSTIFY THE PRICE EXCEPT THAT IT DOESN'T CONTAIN THE HARSH JUNK FROM OTHER PRODUCTS, I USE IT DAILY AND BRUSH HIS TEETH EVERY TWO DAYS AND DO NOTICE A SLIGHT BUILD-UP HENCE I CONTINUE TO BRUSH.
HE DOESN'T MIND THE TASTE BUT CAN DETECT IT IN HIS WATER, HE SNIFFS IT.
I WILL PURCHASE IT AGAIN BUT NOT FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY HAVE THE ABSOLUTE RUDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DO NOT RESPOND TO OTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB,FTC. REGARDING THEIR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OVER THE PHONE, RUDE EMAIL RESPONCE.
Excellent product by Linda from Florida09/20/2014
Been using for years, and I think it has helped my old dog keep his teeth.
Made my dog sick by Karen0101/09/2014
Had to send product back. It's now been 2 whole weeks and we have not gotten our refund yet... still waiting. Customer service says it will process, but doesn't. Our little sweet one vomited for 2 1/2 days until I quit putting the Oratene in her water. She didn't even want to drink water anymore. Took her a couple of days to recover and start drinking again. Thought Oratene would be great reading the reviews, but it wasn't. Did finally find 2 reviews which stated their dogs were also sick on the product.
Great for older cats by Mary S02/23/2014
My 16 year old cat can no longer be anesthetized, so his teeth were a problem. Oratene has prevented tartar buildup for two years, and my vet and I are amazed and pleased. Highly recommended.
Good product by smokey06/26/2013
I had to use this product awhile before I could see results. Its not a short term process, but it does work. Both my dogs and cats have accepted it with no problem. It is easy to use and seems to be a good value, as it doesn't matter how many animals are drinking the water with it in it, they are all getting the benefit. Only thing is I tend to hesitate to throw out left over water for fresh, which is usually the case with the cats, because I feel like I'm throwing money away. I would buy it again and probably use it regularly.
Makes a difference by L2 from Gig Harbor, WA08/28/2013
While I think my two black labs are blessed with strong teeth, the addition of Biotene in their drinking water has been beneficial. At ages 6 and 7 (almost 7 and 8) they get good remarks about their teeth from the vet. There is no doubt it helps with doggie breath too. Will continue using this product.
Good stuff! by MissJen from Michigan06/02/2014
This product has already helped my dog's teeth and only maybe 1/2 the bottle is gone. You easily put it in their water and they don't have a clue anything is different. So much easier than brushing their teeth!
Old dog, old teeth by missd from Nevada01/15/2014
This product has been awesome for my dogs ages 7 & 10. Since they are older, I prefer not to put them through a cleaning procedure with the vet. Their teeth were yellowing badly & their breath was stinky. After a month with Oratene, they have pearly whites again & much fresher breath
Fresh Breath!! by Judythepoo12/04/2013
They must put chicken broth as an additive, as my dogs love to drink their water after I add Oratene. Their breath is fresher and it helps to keep their teeth clean - along with daily brushing.
Happy with this great product! by Nala'sMom from Fayetteville, NY03/30/2014
I've only been using this product for a couple of weeks, so it's too soon to tell if it actually helps remove plaque, but so far, all of my animals are drinking the water with this additive in it. I worried that they would taste or smell a change, and would avoid the water bowls, but happily, this was never a problem. I'll keep using it because it is certainly much easier than trying to brush four mouthfuls of teeth--especially because three of them belong to cats!
