Probably excellent by sue from Berkeley, CA02/04/2010
I wrote the first review because I think this product is excellent for dog teeth cleaning. However, I have recently become concerned about the zinc gluconate ingredient in light of the recent recall of Zicam zinc nasal spray for humans. Apparently, zinc is great at killing bacteria and viruses and also at killing your nerve cells. I would like to know if the level of zinc in this product is high enough to be of concern for the taste buds of my dog. Until the company convinces me that zinc is safe for oral and nasal use, I think maybe it is wise to limit the use of this rinse. Biotene also makes a "maintenance gel" which has the enzymes but not the zinc (check the ingredient label before quoting me on this). I will switch to the gel just to be on the safe side. Sue

I must say this product is so easy to use. I am able to open my tea cup Maltese tiny mouth and gently squirt around her cheeks and mouth. She may night like what I'm doing to her but her breath and gums look and smell so FRESH!!

Nice mild scent and taste by vettech from Los Angeles, CA03/10/2013

Biotene Mouthwashj by WahineWinna from Honolulu, Hawaii01/23/2013
This product in conjunction with Biotene Antiseptic Oral Gel (1 oz) helped fix an ongoing problem with my boy. I used a Vet's recommendation for a long time without seeing any results. The Biotene fix the problem in a very short time and the dogs don't seem to mind it at all.
Useful instead of toothpaste for brushing by Karen from Cleveland, Ohio06/28/2012
I ordered this by mistake instead of Biotene Water Additive. I was going to send it back but decided to give it a try as a mouthwash for my Maine Coon.. I typically use a gauze pad with toothpaste to "brush" his teeth as it gives me better control in his relatively small mouth as opposed to using a brush. Squirting it into my cat's mouth was not kindly received so I saturated the gauze pad with it and rubbed his teeth and gums down per my usual application technique. Doing so wet his mouth down almost as much as directly applying into the mouth and I had the added benefit of an abrasive cleaning via the pad. Biotene is a brand that my vet recommends (and I use the water additive too) so I feel confident that the product is doing what it is supposed to do. Since I just started this regimen, it is too early to tell how much benefit these products are having.
Excellent by Sue03/10/2009
This product works great! The fizzing action at the gumline shows you that the enzymes are activly cleaning the teeth. This product works best when rubbed directly on the teeth and gums with a sponge applicator to allow for maximum contact time. Hold your dog's muzzle closed as you apply to the outer surfaces so the tonque is not immediately licking it off.
After having my German Shepherd's teeth cleaned, I started adding biotene drinking water additive to his water and his teeth have remainied white and clean. It has been over a year now. I am very happy with the results.

It works! by ldc from San Diego area, CA02/05/2012
I thought I would give this product a try after hearing from my vet there is an additive to water that helps with plaque build-up. I tried this and I'm surprised that it does work. I brush my dog's teeth everyday but still there was some build-up. Now even old build-up is disappearing. I just wish it were cheaper. The bottle is very small for the price.
Caution on shipping by Hope08/11/2012
I knew better but was not thinking when I left instructions for the shipper to leave the package at the door. Not the thing you want to do if you live in the desert in Phoenix, Arizona. This product has beneficial biology that is killed in extreme heat. Although I have given it 5 stars, it is based on my friend's opinion of the product. I have not been able to try it yet.

I recently purchased 2 bottles of this product as it was recommended by my veternarian. We have a Shi Tzu Mix who had very bad teeth; we recently spent over $500 to have them cleaned and bad ones extracted, our vet claims she has been using this product for 2 years with good results! We sure are keeping our fingers crossed and will update sometime later, thanks for your great prices I have been purchasing his shampoo here, since he has sensnitive skin also, it's great shampoo!!!!
Biotene - for cats by Catmother03/19/2012
My Vet suggested that I try this product for my cat colony that was suffering from an upper respiratory condition with watery eyes and nasal discharge. As with all things, it helped some of the cats, but not all. It took about 10 days to see the results. As far as improving their dental reports, they haven't been on this product long enough to assess. I would recommend it for anyone with cats who are having problems clearing up their cat's eyes or nose.
A Dental Product That Works! by Kaffeguy from Tampa, FL06/01/2010
I have been using this product for over a year now on my four dogs. It is great. It has reduced the tartar from one cleaning to the next. My pets no longer have bad breath. They do get their teeth cleaned yearly and the Vet. has noticed a great reduction in plaque. The vet's office has been recommending and selling the product now at a much more expensive price. Worth every penny!

Seems Helpful by Classic Girl from Scottsdale, AZ04/23/2012
Our dog's dentist began to recommend a product he carries, and when I told him we use Biotene, he simply put his product back on the shelf. He commented that this was an excellent product. It has kept my dog's teeth fairly clean, but plaque still does build that requires dental intervention. I do believe this product makes the situation much better than it would be though.
Biotene by erjlg302/27/2013
I purchased 4. When they arrived 3 were broken. I called and they sent out 3 more and 1 was broken. They are mailing them in bags now. I have loved this biotene previously........recently..I have had to use more in the same amount of water or it doesn't work. Which would lead one to believe it is being watered down. Why not...everything else is too. Disappointing. It was a good product that lasted a month and now the same product last only 14 days.
Easy and effective by Joan from Eugene OR02/27/2013
After extensive dental problems, my dentist recommended brushing, this product, and OraVet. This is the easiest part of her dental care. A squirt in 2 cups of water (half bowl for her) and she's good to go. When the water needs refreshing, or every 24 hours, I wash the bowl well, and then put in the solution. The vet said bacteria in the bowl can add to dental problems. I expect her to have healthy teeth with this as part of her regimen.

The only negative comment I have is: be sure to follow the dilution instructions on the bottle and remember to change the water bowl everyday. At the correct dilution, the pet will not notice the mint/strange-to-them flavor. Brushing is best, but this is a good alternative, especially if combined with other dental care activities/products by CET.

No Luck - Might be for the best. by Bill08/15/2012
I have tried several times to introduce this rinse to my two girl kittys' water bowl in a very, very diluted fashion with no success. Both went on strike and won't get near the water bowl. I'll have to admit too that in retrospect, I am not so sure adding these chemicals to their drinking water is all that great an idea anyway. If your Vet recommends you try it as mine did, I would suggest to him/her that they carry this product along with their other pet food & supplies (my Vet does not) and for a small fee, allow you to try a sample before you invest $19 like I did. I think we will stay chemical free. Would not be the first time I have come to the conclusion that my animal friends have way better common sense than most humans I know.

There is NO way I would even try this product because it has ZYLITOL in it. I lost one of my pomeranians to zylitol a few years ago and I would not wish that experience on my worst enemy. Not all dogs would be affected by the amount used in this product but why take a chance on your dog? I wish the manufacturers would take it out and replace it with something that is not harmful to ANY animal. Here is a pic of the baby that lost her life to ZYLITOL.

One of our larger dogs had such bad breath he practically knocked us off our feet. In addition, he had lots of plaque on his teeth. The vet would not do dental work on him because of his health and she suggested this product. It has been magical. His bad breath is completely gone and in addition, most of the plaque that yellowed his teeth has also disappeared, we can hardly believe those bright white teeth belong to our darling "Love."
Dog got cramps/diarrhea by Ace's mom from glendale, az01/18/2013
Our vet gave us a sample of this product when my dog's teeth were cleaned. All was fine until I used up the sample. By the time I started him on the bottle I purchased, I couldn't continue using it. My dog was getting up several times at night to go outside. I think it's the Xylitol artificial sweetener. It did make his breath fresher & it's supposed to cut down on tartar. He's 10 yrs. old & had trouble with anesthesia (blood pressure dropped during his teeth cleaning) so it's dangerous for him to get anesthesia again. I was trying to avoid getting his teeth cleaned so often but cannot use this product. I will have to try to brush his teeth (good luck!) It may be worth a try but my dog couldn't use it & I wasted my money.

It is now common knowledge that Xylitol is very toxic to dogs. It causes a dangerous drop in their blood sugar. It is incomprehensible that Virbac has Xylitol in this product. If it is in high enough concentration to disrupt the sugar metabolism of the periodontal microbs than I assure you it is bad for your dog. Why find out how big a dose is lethal?

I've tried brushing, many water additives, chews, etc., with no luck when it came to my pups' breath. Nothing seemed to help. I tried the CET aquadent, and it has made a huge improvement in their breath and teeth. I still brush, but the tartar isn't building up so much now. The only negative is that the bottle is leaky.
CET Aquadent by Bonnie03/06/2013
I also have used this on both of my Yorkies for (7) years and I feel it really works on my Dog's teeth.

My first bottle purchased came from our vet. I was so pleased to see the much more reasonable price on your web site. I know I'll continue being a customer.

My mom puts this in my water bowl to help clean my teeth and to keep my Corgi kisses sweet!
Dogs don't even know by Farm Chick from Texas12/30/2011
Recommended by vet for dental care. Was afraid my dogs would smell it or taste it in water and not drink. They have no idea it is there, hopefully it really works!
Great product by cat11/04/2012
Easy to use on the animals, effective when you cannot brush their teeth!
Great for bad breath by dragnldy from Hebron, KY02/02/2013
We use this to help our dogs that are not big chewers. This additive to their water really helps with their breath.
Worked on Bad Breath! by Louis' Mom08/05/2012
I bought the rinse for his teeth and also for a little bad breath he had developed. I was wary that he wouldn't drink his water with the medication in it but he drank it right up. By the second day his bad breath had disappeared! I can only hope it is doing as well cleaning his teeth too.
C.E.T. Aqua Dent by Shayna from Florida06/02/2013
This is a liquid added to your dog's water - 1/2 tsp per day to 16 oz of frest water. Recommended to me by my Vet to help protect my Poodle's teeth. It works.
Very satisfied customer by Milkbones11/24/2011
It was recommended that I use C.E.T. AquaDent in my dog's drinking water because of a severe tartar problem. The AquaDent definitely does the job, because a year after his last denter and the recommendation from the vet for use of this product, his teeth are still in very fine shape, which they would definitely not be without it.
Great purchase by Buster's Mom from St George, UT11/02/2011
This product helps maintain my dog's good dental health and so I don't have to have his teeth cleaned every year. And he can't tell there's anything in his water!
Brushing pet teeth can be dangerous. by Otto'sslave from Hartford, Ct.11/18/2012
Although my vet says "I wouldn't keep telling you to brush your dogs, cats's teeth if I didn't mean it", he sold me my first bottle of C.E. T. Aquaderm. Then he stopped carrying it. I was happy to find it at EntirelyPets. I no longerf have to buy band ades in bulk.
My pets teeth appear white and clean. Just a few drops in their water is all it takes. It is invisable and without smell. Alot easier thantrying to hold a squirming (biting and clawing) animal.
This product is great. My dog hates it but no longer has bad breath. His breath was unbearable even after faithfully brushing his teeth. Now I only use this maybe once a week.
Good Product by forbes02/19/2012
As a professional groomer, i find this product easy to use, does the job and is inexpensive.
I think there's a benefit from using this product regarding dental cleaning and decay/tartar prevention.
dentahex for dog breath by sam from slc utah06/04/2013
item is ok - at least its safe for dogs! dog doesn't like taste - but it does "temperarily" freshen breath. doesn't do much to solve long term problem though
Works, but would prefer flavorless formula by zeusie from Indianapolis, IN01/01/2013
My cat has very severe kidney failure and the condition has made his breath really bad. Apparently the condition affects his saliva. I want to prevent dental issues caused by this condition and bought the Vet Dentahex oral rinse to help. His breath is definitely better after applying the rinse, so I have to assume it's working. I suspect he really hates the mint taste; I would prefer it be a tasteless formula to eliminate this aspect since it's hard enough to hold him still to squirt the stuff in his mouth. I'm holding off on giving it more stars until his next dental check-up to see how well the product works between visits.
Fresher breath, hopefully better checkup reviews by Tina from Orange County, CA11/06/2012
My vet recommended this, and thus far it's been a good product. My dogs have fresher breath, and I hope to get a better review about tartar at our next dental appointment. If that report is positive, I'll change the rating to 5 stars.
This stuff is fabulous! by LisaLisa from Alabama10/22/2012
I put it on a cotton flat meshy piece that I bought a bunch of from my vet. It's not as absorbant as a cotton ball and I rub it along their teeth and gums once a day. It smells refreshing and helps keep their teeth in good shape and is easier and as effective as brushing.
xylitol is toxic by edwin from honrdfslr,pa01/06/2013
why would the third ingredient be xylitol which is highly toxic to dogs. one stick of gum with it can cause liver failure. wow!
This stuff really works and easy to use by Love my pets03/21/2011
My one dog had really bad breath, has since birth. My vet had a sample of this and I figured I would try it. All you do is pour it in the drinking water. What a difference. My dogs breath is fresh. I plan to buy some now!
Better than nothing... by Lily&Casper from baytown, tx04/19/2012
I like the concept of this product. I like that pet parents are trying to prevent dental problems in their fluffy children but I dislike the food colorings and all the other unnecessary additives it contains. For once in a while usage is fine but I would not give this to my "babies" long term because I don't know how these substances would affect their health.
love the CET drinking addative, Maddie loves it too!
Good Stuff, Poor pouring by AMHII08/01/2012
The pour spout is a little tricky for measuring without spilling or dribbling
pretty good water additive by aprlm from Nebraska05/25/2013

oratene drinking water additive by cocopod from EWA BEACH ,HAWAII04/21/2013
AF APRIL 20TH. 2013, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THIS PRODUCT. IT WAS ON BACKORDER BUT NO WORD AS TO WHEN IT WAS TO COME IN..
Good product by smokey06/26/2013
I had to use this product awhile before I could see results. Its not a short term process, but it does work. Both my dogs and cats have accepted it with no problem. It is easy to use and seems to be a good value, as it doesn't matter how many animals are drinking the water with it in it, they are all getting the benefit. Only thing is I tend to hesitate to throw out left over water for fresh, which is usually the case with the cats, because I feel like I'm throwing money away. I would buy it again and probably use it regularly.
Good Product! by GP from Boca Raton, FL06/03/2013

Used at the direction of our DVM after having all 3 dogs teeth cleaned. Maintains the flora in their mouth and cuts bad breath. Simple to use and fast quality service from Entirely Pets.
