Apoquel

  • Uses for Apoquel

    • Helps in particular with control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis and control of atopic dermatitis in dogs 12 months of age or older
    • Provides relief within 4 hours of first dose administration and effectively controls itch within first 24 hours
    • Isolates symptoms to allow for an accurate diagnosis of underlying conditions
    • Improves quality of life for dogs and owners experiencing certain symptoms of skin conditions

    • Important Safet Information: Do not use APOQUEL in dog less than 12 months of age or those with serious infections. APOQUEL may increase the chances of developing serious infections, and may cause existing parasitic skin infestations or pre-existing cancers to get worse. APOQUEL has not been tested in dogs receiving some medications including some commonly used to treat skin conditins such as corticosteroids and cyclosporines. Do not use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. Most common side effects are vomiting and diarrhea. APOQUEL has been used safely with many common medications including parasiticides, antibiotics and vaccines.

  • Dosing

    • Should be administered twice daily during therapeutic period and once daily for maintenance period
    • May be used with other common therapies including NSAIDs, antibiotics, vaccines, and allergen immunotherapy

  • Administration

    • Administer doses orally twice daily for up to 14 days; then reduced by half for maintenance
    • May be administered with or without food
    • Tablets of Apoquel can be administered when split to allow for partial doses

  • Side Effects

    • Diarrhea
    • Anorexia
    • Polydipsia
    • Occasionally vomiting and lethargy
    • New dermal, epidermal or subcutaneous lump may form when treating atopic dermatitis
