I crush a Deodor-UM tablet and put the powder into my cats' food whenever I notice their litter box is emitting unusually strong odors over several days, even after I've washed out the box and changed the litter. The effect is immediate--no foul odor next day. And after several tablets, those unusual bad smells cease for long periods of time--months in fact. Another plus: my cats love the taste!
