Indications: HISTACALM® antihistaminic emollient anti-itch shampoo provides temporary relief of itching associated with sensitive skin. HISTACALM® Shampoo contains both diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that stops the itch, and colloidal oatmeal, to cleanse and soothe irritated skin.
Dosage and Administration: Shake well before using. Wet the hair coat and gently massage in HISTACALM®. Lather freely and rinse. Repeat and allow the lather to remain on the hair and skin for 5-10 minutes; then rinse. May be used once a day or as directed by a veterinarian. If the condition persists, discontinue use of the product and consult a veterinarian.
I got Histacalm for my two beagle-foxhound mixes. One of them has very dry skin, used to have dandruff when I adopted him from Hart. The shampoo worked great on both, their coat became more shiny right away. I don't bathe them often but when I do, I always use this product. Only two drawbacks: 1. the price (my vet charged around $18 for it) and the duration on the dog. With Smarty, I typically try to leave it on for the entire recommended 10 minutes. Since he is not fond of showers, that is tricky.

This stuff is awesome. My dog has scaly, flaky dandruff. His vet recommended that we use this. We used this and his skin looks great - no flakes or scales anymore. Great product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
