Neck: Measure the circumference of pet's neck for a snug fit. No need to add inches as you would with a collar.
Chest/Girth: Measure girth around the broadest part of the chest and add 2".

The only thing that could make this costume better is if it had a hole at the neck so you can use your dog leash. Otherwise it is absolutely perfect. My 5 year old was little bo peep and our 3 lb yorkie was her sheep! So cute!!!!! Thank you! And the shipping was super fast! I will be recommending you to my friends!
