Medrol

  • Uses for Medrol

    • Collagen, dermal, allergic, ocular, otic, musculoskeletal and chronic diseases
    • Conditions known to be responsive to anti-inflammatory corticosteroids
    • Pets that need this treatment but are prone to polyuria or polydipsia
    • Cats and dogs that need an easy-to-swallow treatment

  • Conditions Treated

    • Endocrine disorders, rheumatic disorders, collagen diseases, dermatological diseases, allergic states, ophthalmic diseases, respiratory diseases, hematologic disorders, neoplastic diseases, edematous states, gastrointestinal diseases, multiple sclerosis, and other miscellaneous disorders
    • Any condition in which anti-inflammatory corticosteroids can be beneficial

  • Dosing

    • You should consult a veterinarian to determine the exact dosage that is appropriate for your pet
    • The appropriate dosage will depend both on the size of your pet and on the condition for which the medication was prescribed

  • Administration

    • Your should divide your pet's dosage into multiple doses, administered 6 to 10 hours apart
    • Tablets are chewable and can be broken up for partial doses
    • Initial dose level is to be administered until a satisfactory clinical response is observed before gradually decreasing the dose

  • Side Effects

    • Fluid and electrolyte disturbances, musculoskeletal weakness, gastrointestinal upset and nitrogen imbalance, hormonal imbalances
    • Posterior subcapsular cataracts,increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, and exophthalmos
    • Impaired healing, fragile skin, facial erythema, increased sweating
    • Vertigo, headache, convulsions
