This comes highly recommended by my vet & read all good reviews on it. My dog is a senior with the cloudiness coming in her eye's & I was looking to find something to help her. I have been using this a couple of months now & I see improvement in her sight.
Pros
  • Improvement in sight
Cons
  • Not real easy to give to the dog but is worth it. It is big capsules.

Happy with the product
October 26, 2020
Unfortunately, our dog was diagnosed with PRA and there is not much we can do about it, so OCU GLO was the supplement that gave us the most hope. We’ve only been using it for a couple of months and the right eye was already damaged a lot but we are trying our best to save the left one.
I don’t know if the supplement worked or if the situation would be the same without using it, but our vet was pleasantly surprised that somehow the progression has stopped and the vision was stabilized. He said that we were an exception to the rule and that he hadn't seen this kind of improvement treating PRA patients. Our next visit will be in a couple of months, we hope that the situation will not change, and with the help of OCU GLO, we will be able to successfully control this misfortune for many years (fingers crossed) :)
Our dog weighs 25-27kg and has no trouble swallowing the pills, covered with cheese or pate. We give her 2 pills a day before the meals.

Merchant Response:Hi Gintaute, We are sorry to hear about the progressive retinal atrophy diagnosis. You are a good pet parent. We hope your next vet visit goes well.
Pros
  • Hopefully stabilizes the vison and eye health, easy to use, fast shipment.
Cons
  • Expensive, additional custom payments for non US buyers.

Dry Eye Relief
September 23, 2020
Our dog had a severe case of dry eye, resulting in many trips to the ophthalmologist. I've been using this product for the past 2 years and haven't had any problems since. It really works for him. I wrap it in a piece of roast beef and it goes right down. Don't give it to him where he has to chew it, because inside contains an orange oil and hard to clean up.
Pros
  • Works well for dry eye syndrome.
Cons
  • Have to wrap it in something to eat.

I don't know if they are impacting my dogs eyes but I feel better giving it to them instead of doing nothing. At least they are vitamins and we can all use more of vitamins.

May have been helping but leaves stains

We have an 8 year old Boerboel who's eyes aren't seeing as bright as they did in his younger years. I decided to try this product after reading all the good reviews. He finished one bottle (I only gave him 2 pills per day instead of the 3 he's supposed to get for his size to see if he had any reactions and because it is very expensive and one bottle only last him a month). He had no issues with the first bottle but I couldn't tell if it was doing anything. Shortly after starting the second bottle, he started having an orange oily discharge from his anus. It stained his fur, the bed quilt, and the carpet. The bottle even says it will stain things if capsules are opened and not given whole, but no warnings of anal leakage. This is the only thing that has changed in his diet. I stopped giving them and no more leakage. I really want the benefits of the pills but cannot continue to use them if this is the side effect. I am trying them one more time and if it happens again, we are done with them.
Pros
  • May have been helping but could not tell after finishing the first bottle
Cons
  • Caused orange oily anal leakage which stained fur, carpet, and bedding.
  • Very expensive, especially if you have a large breed.

Pros
  • Seems to be delaying blindness

Ocu-Glo was recommended by my vet for my Miniature Schnauzer who was showing some signs of premature aging in his eyes. Thus far there has been no further progression of symptoms. I would recommend it. The basis for this product is the same as for human eyes.

Ocu Glo
April 3, 2017
I was recommended to start using this product after my vet noticed some early-onset, small changes in my 6year old Miniature Schnauzer's eyes. When we discussed data for eye health related nutrients I urged her to take a look at recent developments (AREDS study NIH 2013). Of course, we will not know if this product "works" unless there is a reversal or significant slow down of changes (and even then...) but the nutrients are good and the bonus for my dog is that it has also had positive effect on his skin, too!
Easy to feed, too - you can puncture the capsule right into food (beware, the contents are colored red).

Ocu-Glo Rx is used for pets that have eye problems.
Our pet was put on this product due to the retina of her eyes not functioning properly. At her recent visit to the Vet, I was very pleased to learn that her eyes were better and that the product is working.

Good supplement, but a real mess to dispense
June 1, 2016
I have a small 3# papillon who can't swallow the "Small Dog" gelcap so I have to cut tip of capsules off, squeeze liquid into pureed pumpkin so she can eat it. She eats it up but my hands, countertop, scissors etc. are a mess as the liquid stains a dark red/orange color. I've sent the maker an email asking for help - it'd be perfect if they made the liquid available in a tube or bottle!

I have been giving Ocu-Glo to my one-eyed aussie on recommendation from the Canine Ophthalmologist. I don't know about how beneficial it is and there is no way of telling. But he lost one eye to a benign tumor and why take chances.

Great Product for Eye Health
February 10, 2015
After my dachshund, Heidi, lost her one eye to glaucoma I researched everything I could find to help preserve her other eye since most dogs will develop glaucoma in their other eye within a year or two. Ocu-Glo vitamins were mentioned in many veterinary websites and articles as a great supplement to use. The veterinary opthamologist we visited also recommended it as a good product to help support ongoing eye health along with maintenance medication in Heidi's case. It's been a few years now and her remaining eye is still healthy.

Works if you can get the dogs to take it
September 22, 2014
I had a diabetic dog about 16 years old. He developed macular degeneration, and the vet recommended Ocu-GLO for him. I gave it to him for 6 months and took him back to the vet to see how he was doing. She said his eyes were still about the same, so I feel that it slowed the degeneration down. Unfortunately, I lost him two months ago, but I have been giving the remaining pills to another older dog who has a congenital catarat. The capsuls are very large, and she will pick it out of her food and leave it on the floor. I have tried squeezing the contents over her food, hiding it in a pill pocket, and pressing the contents between two pieces of meat. She doesn't like it and eats around whatever it's in, leaving the remnants in the bottom of the dish to dry up. It does seem to help and there doesn't seem to be any other equivalent product out there. I wish they would make the pill in a chewable tablet..

My Dog Won't Take It
July 21, 2014
My dog's veterinary opthamologist highly recommended Ocu-GLO for my senior Shih Tzu after her cataract surgery. Unfortunately these pills are too big and no matter what I put them in (peanut butter, bread, pill pockets, etc.), she will not swallow them. I find them on the floor around my home and the liquid is red and stains my rugs. My dog usually doesn't have a problem taking other pills if they're in peanut butter, so these must not smell/taste very good. These pills are too big for a small dog. The vet suggested squeezing out the filling and putting it on her food, but these are too expensive to buy a second bottle and try that. I wish they made it in a dropper.

I give this to my two senior dogs. One is diabetic and lost his vision; the other is getting old which the doctor recommend this to. I buy the snip version which I can't find on this website. The snip version has a long slim tail which makes cutting it very easy. So, for ppl that want to squeeze it out rather than the whole pill, try the snip one.

difficult
February 13, 2014
the vet suggested we try this product, lulu is losing her vision. i don't like giving this product a poor rating because it might be fine for another dog. lulu is tiny, 6lbs. and can not take the small dog portion since it is still to big. i cut it open to retrieve the insides (not that easy) and it stains (which is stated on the label). i wish there could be an easier way.

My vet recommended this for my 13 year old dog who's losing her sight due to age. Within a week I saw a big difference in her confidence in moving about.
