Arthritis is a painful condition There are two major forms of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a common form of arthritis which involves inflammation of the jonts, swelling, pain, and loss of function. The primary sympton of rheumatoid arthritis is inflammation of the synovial membrane. The membrane thickens and synovial fluid accumulates. The resulting pressure causes pain and tenderness.
The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, is a degenerative joint disease that is far more common than rheumatoid arthritis. It is characterized by the deterioration of articular cartilage and the formation of new bone in the subchondral areas and at the margins of the joint. The cartilage slowly degenerates and as the bone ends become exposed, small bumps of new osseous tissue are deposited on them. These bumps decrease the space in the bone cavity and restrict joint movement.

When the vet diagnosed my nine-year-old lab with arthritis, I was presented with several costly ways to help her pain. I have arthritis too and found the herb turmeric to be very helpful at reducing pain from inflammation. I went in search of pet product that included turmeric to give to my dog. I have an eight year old German Shepherd with dysplasia in both hips and skin allergies. She takes fish oil and atarax for her allergies and has been taking the standard, non-hypoallergenic form of Phycox. I changed to the HA on the theory that she will do better on that. The regimen has really helped her ease of movement. She is not guarded in her walking as much as she was.

this product is wonderful for my dog with arthritis and a sensitive stomach--she can jump up on the bed now
Cautions: Safe use in pregnant animasl or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. If lameness worsens, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian. Administer during or after the animal has eaten to reduce incidence of gastrointestinal upset.
