Revolution for Dogs

Revolution's sole purpose is to prevent your dog from becoming infected with parasites that can make your dog ill. The medication in Revolution for dogs, primarily selamectin, enters your dog's blood stream and distributes through its body to deter the pests from making a home on or in your dog. It will also kill fleas and their eggs. This will prevent an infection of these parasites before it happens so you won't have to deal with treating the problem later.		Revolution for dogs is a prescription product. Therefore, you will need to take your dog in to see the veterinarian in order to purchase the medication. Your veterinarian needs to check your dog to make sure it isn't already infected with these parasites before administering this medication. If the dog is medically cleared, you can begin using the product right away. If your dog already has an infestation of one of these pets, it will need to be cleared up before you are able to use this product. Your veterinarian must also weigh your dog to assure the proper dosage, which comes for dogs as small as puppies weighing less than 5 pounds up to 130 pounds with several doses in between.

Administration		Side Effects
This product is a topical solution that is applied directly to your dog's skin. To apply Revolution for dogs, you must use one tube at a time. Press down on the cap until it clicks and then remove it. This breaks the seal on the tube. Hold your dog securely in front of you. You may need someone else to help you if you have a larger dog. Separate the fur at the back of your dog's neck. Place the tube opening directly against your dog's skin and squeeze out the contents. Make sure you empty the entire tube or the dosage won't be as effective. The product must be reapplied each month.		Side effects from Revolution for dogs are extremely rare. However, like all medications, it is important for pet owners to recognize when a dog's behavior or medical condition changes in their care when on a new medication. Some of the potential side effects of this parasite prevention treatment can include excessive drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, incoordination and faster respiration.
