Top 10 Places to Take Your Pet On The East Coast

If you’re thinking about heading east on vacation or maybe just for a day trip then there are many places well worth considering and they are all dog friendly. What could be better than taking your best friend on vacation with you? They love coming with us and we are more than delighted to take them along too. So here are the top 10 places that are dog friendly along the east coast, and hopefully, you’ll discover you’re favourite as you scroll through the list.

Well here they are, let’s take a closer look at each of them and see what they have to offer your best friend:


1. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach is just amazing for dogs they will love it there, there are 13 dog friendly hotels there and the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort is just one of them. There are 4 dog friendly attractions to visit and also 2 dog beaches these include Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach State Park. Myrtle Beach also has 2 off leash dog parks including Barc Parc South, this park has areas for both large and small dogs and it also has its own lake for dogs to play in. Barc Park North is another dog park and has separate areas for both large and small dogs. There are drinking fountains there if your dog loves to splash around, what dog could refuse?

2. Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is very dog friendly and has 12 pet friendly hotels. There is one very good dog friendly attraction called brittle Bank Park, which your dog will really enjoy. Charleston has 1 dog friendly hiking trail called West Ashley Greenway. Charleston has 3 dog friendly beaches including Beach at Sullivans Island, Morris Island and Folly Beach. Charleston has 11 off leash dog parks and James Island Country Park is just one of them and is a very good park for dogs. This park has its own beach and four acres of open grassy space. Brittlebank Park is another great park and has stunning views of the Ashley River area. This park has a playground, a boat dock and also a fishing pier.



3. Greenville, South Carolina
This place was made for dogs it is just so dog friendly. There are 25 pet friendly hotels there and there are 5 dog friendly attractions and these include The Barkery Bistro and Paris Mountain State Park. Greenville has 4 dog friendly hiking trails including Swamp Rabbit Trail, Paris Mountain State Park, Falls Park on the Reedy and Lake Conestee Nature Park. Greenville has 3 off leash dog parks including Pelham Mill Dog Park, Conestee Dog Park and Red Bran Dog Park.

4. Asheville, North Carolina
Your dog will love Asheville there is so much to see and do, there are 26 pet friendly hotels there and there are 4 dog friendly attractions too. Asheville has 3 off leash dog parks including French Broad River Dog Park, Azalea Park Dog Park and Patton Avenue Pet Company and Dog Park. There are 4 dog friendly hiking trails in Asheville including Biltmore Estate, North Carolina Arboretum, Carolina Mountain Trail and Park Square Park.


5. Nags Head, North Carolina
You and your dog will love Nags Head it really is dog friendly and is one of the best places to take your dog. There are 2 pet friendly hotels there including Comfort Inn South Oceanfront and Travelers Oceanside Inn. There are 3 dog friendly beaches in Nags Head including Nags Head Beach, Oregon Inlet 4WD Beach and also Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

6. Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte is a beautiful place and is one of the best locations to take your dog, there are 67 pet friendly hotels there and there are 2 dog friendly attractions including Whitewater Rafting Center and also William Davies Park. Charlotte has 1 dog friendly hiking trail called Charlotte Trolley Trail, which your dog is sure to enjoy. Charlotte also has 6 off leash dog parks including William Davies Park, Barkingham Park at reedy Creek Park, Fetching Meadow at Mc Alpine Creek Park, Shuffletown Park, Frazier Dog Park and Mallard and Clark’s Creek Greenway.


7. Savannah, Georgia
Savannah is definitely worth considering as it is so dog friendly, there are 44 dog friendly hotels there including Americas Best Value Inn which is just great for you and your dog. There is one dog friendly attraction and it’s called Savannah Dog Park. There are 4 off leash dog parks in Savannah including Mother Matilda Beasley Dog Park, Daffin Park Dog Parks, Herty Pines Dog Park and Lake Mayer Community Park. Savannah has 2 dog friendly hiking trails including Skidway Island State Park and Wormsloe State Historic Site. Savannah also has 24 dog friendly tours.

8. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Your dog is going to love Virginia Beach there is just so much there for them Virginia Beach has 20 dog friendly hotels including Best Value Inn Virginia Beach that will delight you and your best friend. If your dog loves beaches then this is the place for you. Virginia Beach has two dog friendly beaches including First Landing State Park Beach and also Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach also has 6 off leash dog parks including Woodstock Community Dog Park, City View Park, Red Wing Metro Dog Park, Holly Ridge Manor, False Cape State Park and Bayville Farms Park.


9. Williamsburg, Virginia
Williamsburg is a great place for both you and your dog you really will love it there. If you’re planning on staying in a hotel with your dog then you’re in luck as Williamsburg has 14 dog friendly hotels including Americas Best Inns Williamsburg. Williamsburg has one off leash dog park called Waller Mill Dog Park and it really is a great looking park that is surrounded by trees, and for the owners there are plenty of benches to relax on.

10. Richmond, Virginia
You and your dog will love Richmond and for your best friend there really is so much to do. Richmond has 32 dog friendly hotels if you’re planning on staying for a while and they more than cater for your dog’s needs. There is one dog friendly beach in Richmond called James River your dog will have to stay on a leash at this beach though. There are 5 off leash dog parks in Richmond including Barker Field at Byrd Park, Church Hill Dog Park at Chimborazo Park, Ruff House Dog Park at Rockwood Park, Phideaux Filed at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church and also Northside Dog Park.
