As the Fall Primetime TV lineup approaches, many of us are anxiously awaiting new shows featuring pets! There are countless shows with pets that somehow find a way to steal the spotlight from their human counterparts. Here’s a few of celebrity pets that walk the red carpet and strut their tails into our televisions each night.

In real life, Mr. Muggles is portrayed by pet actor Lestat, who is no stranger to the Hollywood limelight. Lestat’s TV credits include Las Vegas as well as commercials for Taco Bell, Volkswagen and Yellow Pages. Most recently, Lestat played the object of Maria Sharapova’s photographic attention for Canon commercials.

Lassie is perhaps the most well-known Rough Collie there is. In Variety, the show business journal, Lassie was named as one of the “100 Icons of all time” – the only animal star on the list. Lassie is also only one of three animals to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – the others being silent-film stars Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart.

Higgins was found in an animal shelter in Burbank, California. He was a small mixed breed dog who was believed to be a cross between a Miniature Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer and Cocker Spaniel.

Buck’s laziness, insults and sarcasm were part of the humor that many fans enjoyed on Married…With Children.

Ok – that might be an exaggeration but it sure made the show that much more entertaining. Eddie was the best pal for Martin Crane for the entirety of the show, about as intellectual as Frasier Crane at times. Eddie, played by pet actor Moose, was a Jack Russell Terrier who was also featured in the film, My Dog Skip. Moose was such a popular face that he received more fan mail than any of his human counterparts.

Salem, an American Shorthair cat, once a warlock, was sentenced to spend 100 years as a cat without magical powers for his attempt to take over the world. Talk about a cat with huge aspirations! Throughout most of the show, Salem was played by an animatronic puppet due to the creator’s sensitivity to the treatment of animals. Four real life cats were used to portray Salem during non-dialogue scenes.

Mister Ed was an intelligent palomino American Saddlebred who could speak to his human owner, Wilbur. Contrary to popular beliefs, Mister Ed did not require peanut butter in order to make his mouth appear to move. Mister Ed was played by Bamboo Harvester, a Palomino equine.
