Vetoryl

Vetoryl Vetoryl uses the chemical compound trilostane to treat hyperadrenocortism, or Cushing’s Disease, in dogs. Cortisol is normally produced during times of stress by a variety of enzymes. Trilostane inhibits the enzyme 3-beta-HSD, which produces several hormones used in the synthesis of corticosteroids. By inhibiting the production of these hormones, this enzyme reduces the levels of cortisol that cause the complications associated with hyperadrenocortism.

Of the enzymes that produce corticosteroids, only 3-beta-HSD is not a member of the CYP450 family of enzymes. CYP450 enzymes also produce a variety of other important hormonal steroids such as aldosterone, so trilostane manages to reduce cortisol in an uniquely safe and effective manner. Vetoryl is available in capsules of four different dosages to make it easy to administer the right dosage for your dog.
