1 Star because I can't give it a negative review by Chip02/06/2014
Terrible experience, do not waste your money or your time on this product. The first issue is not the product per se but it was a sign. I ordered the product on Thursday and I paid 30.00 for overnight shipping. I received the product Monday evening. I should have used 3 day shipping or anything besides overnight. I followed the directions and brushed the insides of the dog checks and packaged the contents and mailed them off to Wisdom Panel. First, it sure took a while to updated to show the sample was in the lab. For the next debacle, I received an e-mail from Wisdom Panel informing me that three (3) of their four (4) key key DNA processing machines required maintenance and repairs at the same time causing them to only operate at 25% capacity. There was an excuse about snow, additional workloads, and other hurdles for Wisdom Panel. The real heart breaker, the final communication from Wisdom Panel is that the test failed and they told me to contact them for a retest kit. A retest is impossible because the dog succumbed to bone cancer during the time period Wisdom Panel attempted to analyze the DNA. I am not impressed. I called customer service and the funniest thing I heard was that sometimes DNA falls off and sometimes it doesnít. Imagine that, apparently some days DNA sticks around and some days it doesnít.
Very professional by Jana27 from Tryon,NC10/20/2013
I was impressed with the detail that the wisdom panel provided. It gave me the major breeds that my dog had in his heritage as well as listing possibilities for the mixed breeds in his DNA. The results confirmed what I thought concerning a couple breeds and also surprised me as well. Since my dog has some health issues I was able to see where they may be traced back to his breed heritage.
Waste of Money and Time - Bad Experience by Chip02/10/2014
Terrible experience. I suggest you save your money or find some other fun way to waste 80 to 100 dollars. I followed the directions brushing the insides of the dogs cheeks with the two included swabs and packaged them according to the directions and mailed them off to Wisdom Panel ASAP. I did one of the test swabs and my wife did the other one. First, it sure took a long time for the Wisdom Panel ďTest StatusĒ page to show the sample was in their lab. For the next debacle, I received an e-mail from Wisdom Panel informing me that three (3) of their four (4) key DNA processing machines required maintenance and repairs at the same time causing them to only operate at 25% capacity. There was additional details and excuses about snow, heavier than normal samples to process, and other hurdles for Wisdom Panel. They informed me the results would be slow but they were working the backlog and would provide a report soon. The real heart breaker was the final communication from Wisdom Panel which came on the last day of analysis, some 21 days later informing me the test failed and they told me to contact them for a retest kit. A retest is impossible because the dog succumbed to bone cancer during the time period Wisdom Panel attempted to analyze the DNA. I am not impressed and feel totally taken advantage of. I called customer service and the funniest thing I heard was that sometimes DNA falls off and sometimes it doesnít. Imagine that, apparently some days DNA sticks around and some days it doesnít. As of the date of this review, Wisdom Panel is unable to process the swabs and read DNA. I requested a refund last week but have not heard whether or not this will occur.
