Signs of poor digestive health in cats and dogs

  • Bad breath
  • Gas
  • Increased stool
  • Diarrhea
  • Excessive shedding, itching or allergic reactions
  • Hairballs

Digestive enzymes are easily destroyed by the normal processing of commercial pet food. External conditions such as travel, separation, storms, diet change, etc., can cause anxiety or stress that may reduce digestive efficiency. Also, as the body ages, fewer enzymes are produced. OptaGest replenishes the enzymes that help process fats, carbohydrates and protein, easing the burden placed on the digestive system. The prebiotic, FOS, feeds the native bacteria that naturally replenish these essential enzymes.

My 9.5 year old mini aussie still gets a dose a day and his stomach continues to be stable! Has always been hard to find online and in local stores so appreciate EP continuing to carry.

Been using this for years. The ingredients are the perfect ones for aiding nutrient absorption in all ages of dogs. On this my dogs have no digestive problems whatsoever.

    A must have ....

Every pet needs pre and probiotics.
My older bichon had warts from head to toe - the one that were bothersome (knee joints or the bleeders etc) were surgically removed. I started the pre-pro powders too late for them, although the size of their warts or properly said benign growths shrank substantially. My newer group have been raised on the pre-pro biotics and there is not a bump anywhere BAMBAM is 9yrs old!! - best money every spent!!!!! PS the pre biotics allow for better quicker food absorption and the probiotics clean the gut and remove the harmful uneeded bacteria - this means better skin/no warts etc etc etc - i am not a vet just an informed pet owner who has made it her business to provide the best care i can. -- this is a cheap fix in the long run as compared to surgical removal of the warty type bumps.

    Great ...
    August 5, 2016
I have been using this product for 3 years ever since I went from bichon to standard poodle. The big girls are more susceptible to bloat/torsion. I watched a video that shows how the food digests faster in the stomach yet the vitamins/minerals and added pre/pro biotics are not lost in the remaining digestive process - my girls do not have gas and good thing as this is the precursor to bloat. I still follow a strict regime no play/exercise for 1 hour after eating etc .. This product is great ... Strongly recommended and now that the pet limit is unlimited in my area. .... More doggie horses (poodles) for me and that means more Optagest.!... Oh and I also give it to my little Bambam ... Bloat/torsion plays favorites and even so, little dogs and even cats can get this deadly condition.

    Miracle Powder!
    March 3, 2016
My boxer/pit has severe digestive issues. After many trials of different supplements and combinations, I am finally down to ONE! OptaGest! Meal time used to be a real hassle adding in different pills and powders to help my gal digest her food and not have runny stools. With OptaGest I just sprinkle the powder over her food and she is able to enjoy her food and now has firm stools. This product has worked better than anything else we had tried and she is no longer on prescription dog food.

    Performs as advertised

Gabby's gas was rather distressing to the humans living with her. I originally saw Opti-Gest in a pet store and tried it. I have been ordering it from Entirely Pets ever since. The flatulence is now an uncommon event rather than a daily occurrence.

Works best when my dog gets the OptaGest which is a prebiotic and a probiotic. I have heard that the Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes & Probiotic is good.

    Serious Help for Gas
    November 5, 2013
My Pit Bull had a compromised life when we adopted him. Good food and time and he looks wonderful...but wow...what gas! We tried some other things,( I'm sure each dog has their own challenges) but by far the best relief for us all has been after adding OptaGest to his food with each meal. THANK YOU!

    Great product!

Recently, I got a beautiful little Golden Retriever puppy from a rescue. She came with giardia and hookworms. After being successfully treated, she still continued with the diarrhea. My vet recommended a pro-biotic supplement, and I purchased what was recommended. It did not seem to help after 30 days. I bought the Optagest and within 24 hours the diarrhea was gone. All 3 of my dogs get it everyday, and no more tummy troubles!

Got a critter with a delicate tummy?
    August 6, 2013
My 12 year old mix rescue has a delicate tummy and his foster mom of a year gave him OptaGest. I took him off of it and am so sorry I did! He paid the consequences. He's now back on it twice daily (per instructions) and hasn't had any trouble since. He quickly returned to the happy healthy guardian he was meant to be. Now the whole family is happy.

We have 2 English Springer Spaniels. We have problems with bad breath, smelly ears, loss of hair. The dogs are active hunters, we groom them ourselves. Using Optagest the is no more bad breath, no more smelly ears. Their coats are shiny & shedding is at a minimum. They don't get as gassy as they used to either. We love this product & highly recommend it. Very easy to use, dogs don't even know it's in their food.

What is the difference between Clover's "Fresh Digest" and "OptaGest"? I've used the OptaGest previously and love the product. I'm in the midst of placing another order and I happened to see the "Fresh Digest". I also am using the Animal Essential pre and probiotic product. I typically use the Animal Essentials in the AM and the OptaGest in the PM meal. How would the "Fresh Digest" fit into the picture and what are your recommendations? Thanks.
    1 Answer
Well, actually- these two products are very similar- with the only exception being price. If you would like to further supplement your pet's digestive health with additional prebiotic and probiotic support- I would suggest using Proflora. Proflora includes different strains of probiotics than "Fresh Digest" and "OptaGest" and it also contains a prebiotic to help these bacteria grow more effectively in your pet's gut: This means you can feed it in addition to OptaGest. It's also available in palatable soft chews that dog's love.
