If you get the single flap version, the flap is on the inside of your home (the same side as the locking cover) and if you get the double flap version there is a flap on both sides. The wall mounts come with an 8" thick aluminum tunnel that is self framing for most 2 x4 and 2x6 stud walls.

Excellent Pet Door

I have used the Endura Flap Dual Flap Pet Door before. The previous one was a through-the-door pet door. This time I needed the through-the-wall pet door so I ordered another Endura Flap, Very nicely constructed door but attaching the long bolts for the final step is extremely difficult. I got two of the don'e but could not get the other done properly so I have to try again and redo those two. It seems there should be a way to make that part of the installation easier. That said, I think it the only truly weather resistant pet door. The dual flaps are magnet lined on all sides so they close completely and tightly. I'm not sure the other brands of doors would seal this well. I only I gave it for 4 stars because of the difficulty getting the long bolts in properly..
