Description

Vectra for Dogs & Puppies uses a triple action topical treatment formula to kill all life stages of fleas on your canine companion. Not only does this treatment effectively kill fleas, but it also works in repelling other pests such as fleas and sand flies which are commonly known to transmit diseases through their bites. Prevention is the key, especially when your pet is as risk for these transmitted diseases. Luckily, Vectra kills the biting bugs before they can even start to feed on your pet. Without being able to bite, they’re unable to transmit any diseases! This topical treatment may be used on both grown dogs and puppies over 8 weeks of age with different weight options to suit your pet’s size. The quick drying medication utilizes dinotefuran and pyriproxyfen for optimal results.

Dinotefuran is an insecticide that attacks the central nervous system of insects on contact. It does this by continuously stimulating the nervous system leading to tremors, spasms and a quick death. They won’t even have a chance to take a bite out of your pet before they meet their doom. Preventing bites from pests is essential to preventing transmitted diseases or skin diseases such as bartonellosis, tapeworm, tularemia, flea allergy dermatitis and anemia.

Pyripoxyfen is an insect growth regulator, meaning that it stops young fleas from developing into adults. Flea eggs, larvae and pupae that are wiggling around your dog’s fur will be unable to grow until other active ingredients do their work to kill those little critters. By combining both an insecticide and an insect growth regulator, Vectra is the optimal medication for both treating current infestations and preventing a future one from reoccurring. The long-lasting formula stays effective to prevent reinfestation up to 30 days after a single application!

Once applied, Vectra begins to spread across your pet’s skin to eliminate each and every flea no matter how well they’re hidden. The medication will activate within 2 hours of applications and you can see fleas beginning to be killed in just 6 hours!

DOG VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!

Our dog did not do well after the 1st treatment. Ran around rubbing his sides on the floor. Lasted for a few hours & off & on for the next two days. Will not use this product again.

Great low-toxin product
February 19, 2016
This product is nicotine based and is low toxicity. We use it on our dog and cat as recommended by our vetrinarian, who does a lot of research on pet medications. He cautioned us to use this product and not Vectra 3D as it contains too many chemicals. It works great; we haven't seen a single flea.

Only one left that works

we have 6 dogs and have used Advantage and Front Line Plus for years until it stopped working. Starting using this a year ago and have not seen a flea and that is saying a lot living in hot, humid Florida

Disappointed with Vectra
May 18, 2015
This was my first purchase of Vectra. I have 2 senior dogs (15 yr. old Golden Lab, 13 yr. old Vizsla) and live in downstate NY (Carmel) - in a rural area, lots of ticks. Always used BioSpot, very successful, but my vet said its chemicals were harmful and recommended Vectra. Only made one application so far and it has been useless. I take ticks off them every day, find blood engorged ticks on the floor - alive.

I'll try another application next month. If that doesn't work, I'll contact the manufacturer and request a refund.

I don't think that I will re-order this product

I used to purchase this from my vet's office and I'm thrilled I can order online. Best monthly treatment I've found thus far.

Misleading Description on Website
October 7, 2013
Although the website states that the medicine can be used to prevent fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, etc. The literature within the packet specifically says that it can only be used to treat fleas.
