This is cruelty to the hermit crab that would be stuffed in this painted shell. If the paint were to chip off the hermit crab would most likely eat the paint and die. Or the paint could act like a glue securing the hermit crab inside, the crab would not be able to molt and suffer a most painful death. So do not buy these painted shells. You could buy a non-painted shell cheaper and I think the non-painted shells look way prettier.
