What Does Azodyl Do?

Like in people, the kidneys play an essential role in keeping your pet healthy. Kidneys filter toxins out of the blood that would otherwise lead to serious medical complications. Azotemia is caused by abnormally high levels of nitrogen in the blood, which is often caused by inadequate filtration by the kidneys. Further complications can lead to uremia and kidney failure, which can oft prove fatal.

Rather than let the health of a cat or dog deteriorate, many pet owners seek to maintain their petís renal health through supplementation and specialized diets. A wide variety of options are available to those wishing to maintain their petís renal health; many of which include useful nutrients like phosphorous that are essential to kidney function.

Though these formulas can remedy specific deficiencies that might lead to kidney damage, pets suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CDK) or azotemia require treatments that utilize proprietary combinations of peptides, amino acids, and microorganisms to repair damage and negate additional side effects. Though there are multiple treatments available to you and your pet- there are several factors that separate Azodyl from the rest of the herd.

Proprietary Ingredients

Azodylís unique formula relies on active microorganisms to relieve the stress put on your petís kidney. It achieves this result with a combination of E. thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, B. longum, and psyllium husk. These probiotics accelerate the synthesis of sugars, acids, and other substances that can alter the pH value of particular regions of the body. This effect directly combats azotemia and helps slow the progression of CKD.

Azodylís formula is safe for all animals of all sizes, but it is made with small dogs and cats in mind. This means that larger dogs and other pets might require a different dosage or supplemental treatments. Fortunately for those that need it, Azodyl is safe to take with additional renal supplements or kidney treatments. Although you should check with your veterinarian, this generally means Azodyl is perfect for supplementing more serious procedures that are needed to treat renal distress.

The makers of Azodyl, Vetoquinol, also make a series of other useful supplements and treatments that promote renal health in cats and dogs. This expansive set is beneficial to pet owners for multiple reasons, one of which being that many of the products can be used in conjunction with Azodyl and include different ingredients that relieve different aspects of renal distress. Furthermore, the products are available in different forms to make administration as easy as possible.

Additional Supplementation

Among the other products in Vetoquinolís line up is Epakitin, a powdered formula that works to combat the symptoms of Chronic Renal Failure. Rather than use microorganisms and psyllium husk, its formula combines lactose, calcium carbonate, and chitosan to lower phosphate levels, thereby attacking the root of the problem in pets with CDK.

Renal K+ is another effective solution from Vetoquinol that delivers potassium, B-Complex vitamins, and other nutrients to pets with renal problems. These ingredients work to combat potassium deficiencies that affect pets with CDK. This supplement is available as both a gel and a powder to help ensure that it is easy to administer to even the pickiest of pets.

These treatments can all be taken with Azodyl, individually, or altogether, but itís recommended that any and all treatments be supplemented with a special diet. Because pets with CDK have high levels of phosphorous- it is absolutely crucial to switch afflicted pets to a diet that is low in phosphorous. Chronic Kidney Disease can be fatal in both cats and dogs- so itís important to treat pets that are diagnosed.
