Skin infections can make dogs and cats feel very uncomfortable. The itching, redness and irritation associated with these infections can lead to hair loss and excessive scratching. This increases the risk of a secondary infection if bacteria, fungi or viruses enter open wounds caused by intense scratching. Hot spots, dermatitis and ringworm are a few of the most common types of skin infections that occur in pets. These infections develop due to the presence of harmful bacteria, fungi or viruses on the skin. Using a medicated spray can help ease symptoms of skin infections and help them heal.
