I did not use the fish food, the background, or the filter. the fish food is low quality and the filter is way too strong for any fish in such a small tank. It would be best to toss the filter and just use the tank for a Betta fish, who does not need much space, but will love that you are giving them room to swim. Never put a Goldfish in such a limited amount of space, it stunts growth and the fish will grow up with many internal deformities. This tank is perfect for your small little Betta, as long as there is no filter. They come from a place with no current, so putting them in an area with any current would be like putting you on a continuous treadmill for the rest of your life. I like the tank, but not for goldfish.

Killed my goldfish!
August 27, 2010
Thought I was being smart to use a goldfish aquarium kit! My poor healthy little goldfish (1 1/2 in) got caught in one of the filter slits and hurt it's side. In less than a day it died. I'm so upset about this! I bought this tank from a chain pet store and they said having the filter was a bonus. I wish I would've just bought a regular tank. And not to mention it is just way too small for any goldfish. It's flimsy and though it looks pretty it's not worth it!
