Description

Wild Alaska Salmon Oil aids dogs in the natural process of good overall general health. This pure low heat oil, made in our certified plants, is formulated using only Wild Alaska Salmon-fresh caught in the pristine waters off of the 34,000 miles of Alaska. Wild Alaska Salmon Oil has a balanced ratio of EPA and DHA, which allows this product to support cellular growth, for your canine son or daughter, for both internal systems and the external skin and coat. Our Wild Alaska Salmon Oil is a dedicated supplement that gives you levels of bioavailable omega 3 long chain fatty acids that cannot be achieved by heat processed pellets, kibble, soft canned or dehydrated foods. Our oils partner with raw diets nicely!

Key Benefits

  • Rich, flavorful oil is made from fresh wild salmon sustainably caught in the pure waters of Alaska.
  • Concentrated DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids help nourish your pup's skin and promote a smooth, lustrous coat.
  • Omega fatty acids also support healthy immunity, good cardiovascular health, and strong brain and nervous function.
  • Proudly made in the USA without the use of artificial preservatives, colors or synthetic flavors.
  • Oil is stabilized with natural tocopherols to maintain freshness; each bottle is nitrogen-purged to remove oxygen and extend shelf life.

Useful Information

For maintenance purposes, give pet 1/2 teaspoon per 10 lbs of body weight daily. Add oil to food, or feed directly as a treat. For best results use on a long-term basis; studies have shown that fatty acid levels reach a steady state within about 1 month of starting supplementation. If bottle is fitted with a pump, 1 pump equals approximately 1/2 teaspoon.

FAQ

Our oils are produced from fresh wild Salmon and Pollock which is harvested in the pristine waters of Alaska, and then bottled in our Bellingham, Washington production plant. The oils are processed using low temperature centrifugation and then stabilized with natural tocopherols. Additionally, each bottle is nitrogen purged to displace oxygen, which ensures shelf freshness for 24 months from production.

The oil should be stored in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight and avoiding temperatures above 86° F, as both of these things can cause it to spoil. It is not generally necessary to refrigerate the oil; the exception to this is, during the summer months if temperatures exceed 86° F for homes which do not use central air-conditioning.

The date on the bottle is valid until the bottle has been opened. Once bottle has been opened, store bottle at room temperature-use within 45 days. Store bottle in refrigerator-use within 90 days.

While our fishing locations remain the same from year to year, because it is a natural product, the oil may vary in color. This is because the flesh color varies from fish to fish and season to season, depending on their amount of time spent in the ocean, what and how often they eat, etc.
Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are "good" fats which are required for normal growth and physiological integrity. They are important for your pet to maintain a healthy skin and coat, and promote strong immune, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Because essential fatty acids are not made in the body, they need to be ingested. This is easily done for your pets by providing them as food or supplements. The best source for EFAs is seafood. While some plants (such as flax seed) do contain EFAs, they do not contain the important long chain fatty acids EPA and DHA which can only be found from marine sources. The amounts average in the following range: EPA 365-410, DHA 410-455.
The fish used to produce our oils are wild caught in Alaska. Alaska's marine habitats are extremely clean, and Alaska's fish are remarkably low or free from contamination by pesticides, petroleum derivatives, PCBs, metals, and bacteria. Because Alaska is thousands of miles away from large sources of pollution, these distances, combined with the Earth's patterns of circulation of water and air, help to ensure that Alaska's waters are among the cleanest in the world. Be assured, the state of Alaska conducts contamination surveys of the various species native to the waters around the state.
Natural tocopherol is added after the oil is extracted, to act as a preservative. We use a mix of the 4 major vitamin E compounds: alfa, beta, delta, and gamma.
The ingredients of the regular salmon and pollock oils are the same for both cat and dog versions. Because most pet stores separate products by species, we have created two labels for retail display.

Good Stuff !
September 17, 2017
I use this product on my dogs food every morning. They like the taste.Their coats are shinny and soft.Less shedding too.I adopted a yellow lab several months ago.She shed like crazy and she had a very coarse, dull coat. Now she looks and feels beautiful.About 10 years ago I adopted a German Shepherd .She had a very bad waxy skin condition. It was thick and scaly .covering the entire lower half of her body.I think it was seberia. After using this for about 6 months it all cleared up,she is still with me her once scraggly coat is full ,thick and beautiful. All I can say is good stuff!

Good product and dogs love the taste

Good product when compared to other fish oils, though you must be aware they recommend usage within 30 days of opening, so while the larger bottles are a better value, I often have to order multiple smaller bottles for my dogs.

Review for Alaska Naturals Wild Alaska Salmon Oil Original for Dogs (32 oz)
March 4, 2017
My dogs love the SLmon Oil. I put it on their food in the morning. They are not scratching as much & their hair (Havanese) is looking better even though I only have been using it for a few weeks. Also, it's much cheaper than the pet stores.

salmon oil for dog's coats
June 21, 2016
Our daughter recommended this product to us when we were complaining about our 12 year old dog's rough coat. She said that in about 6 weeks it had made a difference in her dog's coat. Same breed. We're only about 3 weeks in but are hoping it will make a difference. I'll let you know later. Dogs sure gobble up their food when the oil's on it!!

It's OK
November 13, 2013
I have two pits. One dog seems fine with this salmon oil, but the other one has been burping a lot. I did not notice the burping with the previous salmon oil I gave them. I'm sure it depends on the dog. I think pits tend to have sensitive stomach issues.
