Denosyl is a nutritional supplement that helps minimize a variety of liver problems in dogs and cats. It has also been shown to improve liver health and function by protecting and repairing liver cells.

Description

Denosyl is a nutritional supplement that helps minimize a variety of liver problems in dogs. It has also been shown to improve liver health and function by protecting and repairing liver cells. It is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels in dogs and cats. For optimal absorption, give your dog or cat Denosyl on an empty stomach, at least an hour before feeding.

Denosyl, a nutritional supplement, is the pure and stabilized salt of S-Adenosylmethionine for veterinary use only. It is the only brand researched in medical trials for veterinary use in dogs.

S-Adenosylmethionine is an endogenous molecule synthesized by cells throughout the body and is formed from the amino acid methionine and ATP. It is an essential part of three major chemical pathways in the body.

Denosyl has been shown to increase hepatic glutathione levels in cats and dogs. Glutathione is a potent antioxidant that protect hepatic (liver) cells from toxins. A study found that low liver glutathione concentrations are common in dog and cats with decreased liver function.

For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. For those owners who have difficulties administering tablets to their pets, this medication may be disguised in a small bite of food. Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a "dry swallow" do not pass into the stomach in cats, but may become lodged in the esophagus. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach. Denosyl 9- mg tablets are ideal for cats because of their small size.

Ingredients

S-Adenosylmethionine

Useful Information

Body Weight Total Daily Administration & Tablet Size
Up to 12 pounds (5.5 kg) One tablet of 90 mg
13 to 34 pounds (6-15.5 kg) One tablet of 225mg

The number of tablets can be gradually reduced or may be increased at any time depending on the pet's needs.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Keep tablets in original blister pack until used. Tablets are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat and should not be split or crumbled.

What does the liver do? The liver participates in many activities within the body. It helps the digestion of food through production of bile and helps change digested foods into substances used by the body for energy and growth. The liver also helps process some medications into material(s) that can be used by the body; the liver may assist in eliminating medications from the body once they have had their effect. The liver stores vitamins and minerals and works with sugar (carbohydrates, glucose), fats and proteins. It also helps maintain proper blood clotting and removes many body toxins from the blood. Without proper liver function, the pet's health is compromised.

Because it does so much, the liver may be subject to many things: injury, both direct and indirect, infection, and toxicity. Some of the signs and symptoms of compromised liver function in pets may include: weakness, vomiting, poor appetite, and/or seizures. But if there is mild or early stage liver compromise, the pet can appear normal. If you notice any of these symptoms or your pet is just acting differently, you should contact your veterinarian. Many veterinarians run screening tests for middle aged and older patients during the annual examination to ensure that organ function is normal.

Fair price
Our dog Cap has valley fever and our vet remommends Denyosyl to counteract the effects of his prescription medication. We're so glad we found entirely pets! With the semi regular sales they have, it's always have the most competitive price.

Supplement that works
I hesitate to review supplements that border on being a medication because I am not a medical professional, but I will be happy to share my personal experience. My dog was diagnosed with atypical Addison's disease several years ago. She must take prednisone on a daily basis and long term use has damaged her liver. Her veterinarian recommended Denosyl. She has faithfully taken this supplement 2X a day for years and her liver values have remained "good" for a dog with her problems.

Good value
This is a med I used to buy from our vet. It is about 1/2 price from Entirely Pets. So nice to get a bargain on a necessary medication.

Denosyl seems to help
Our furry fellow has had a number of issues over the past year, including now being treated for diabetes with 2 injections of insulin/day. Denosyl treats his sub-par liver function and although I know his vastly improved health is due to a group of treatments (and can't know how much of it is specifically due to the Denosyl) he's in the best health he's been in for a long time and we're happy to continue all therapies, including the Denosyl. We're not going to quibble with success!

Helped my dog.
My vet recommended this product to help with liver support for my dog's copper storage disease. I'm glad I found this product here at a much more affordable price. It has really helped with his liver values and has extended his life.

good price for this product
I really don't know the effects of my dog taking this medication for his liver. Blood tests have not been redone since the start. I am hoping it is controlling his problem. Good price; good delivery time.

Denosyl for Cataracts in dogs
I use glutathione to control/reverse my cataracts, and I searched for a veterinary product to do the same for my dog Spike. Denosyl is sold for treating the liver, but if you read the "fine print" it greatly increases the dog's own production of glutathione in the liver. If you research glutathione you will learn that it 1.) must be made in the body from other precursors, and 2.) it performs many vital tasks in improving overall health. Denosyl is an excellent source of a precursor for glutathione (but not for human consumption - you can use Sam-E or N-Acetylcystiene to do that). It has significantly improved Spike's health.

Life Saver for my best friend!
My then 13 year old Border Collie, Josie, was diagnosed with severe liver disease more than a year ago and declining rapidly. With a little research on of my own I made the decision to put her on a daily regime of a recommended LD product called Marin. When Marin was not readily available I substituted another LD product called Denosyl. To this daily dose I added a supplemental nutrient and antioxidant capsule of Proanthozone along with the vet recommended dose of Prednisone and a strict LD Diet kibble. It's amazing to see the quality of life Josie has enjoyed since I began the routine! She moves a little slower these days when she plays her favorite game of fetch but she is eating well, has a healthy coat and has regained her happy joyful personality! I don't know if it can be attributed to just one thing but, I'm not willing to risk changing any of it. Worth a try for sure. Please, NO MEAT SCRAPES no matter how much you'd like to give your pet a little treat, as just a small piece reverses Josie's condition drastically-learn from my mistake. Best to you and your beloved dog!

saved my dogs life
This product saved my dogs life , I lost her mother to liver failure . I wished I had found it sooner . When I found Sadie was having the same problem as her mom the Vet said to try this , after 6 mo. her liver numbers were cut in half , I gave her 2 pills per day then after about 9 mo. her numbers were good enough that I now give her just one pill per day and her numbers are in the good range , and have been for about 9 mo. Best stuff ever

Denosyl is a miracle worker!
I have a 15 year mixed breed dog who years ago was very ill and near death. The doctor said he had the same thing as Serosis of the liver. He told me to try Denosyl. This made a huge difference. He bounced back and has never been better. It may not work for all dogs but it is worth a try. Entirely Pets also sells it the cheapest.

Great Purchase
This was less then half the price as the vets and it was delivered in a timely manner BUT I ordered 3 boxes and they were all in one package and the package was totally open at the top so I wasn't pleased about that but everything was ok with the boxes. Hopefully next time they will make sure it is well sealed.

Whatever it takes
Denosyl is fairly expensive, but I will do whatever it takes to keep my dogs healthy. My 13 year old was diagnosed with liver disease 5 years ago and prescribed Denosyl. She is still doing well. Entirely Pets makes it much more affordable.

Best Online Price
We have had our GSD on Denosyl and Marin for almost 5 years now due to liver disease. I searched the internet and found Entirely Pets to be the best price anywhere. Just recently they have offered the 3 month auto-ship which I really love. We have her dog food on auto-ship and now her meds. I don't have to worry about running out ever again. Thank you EntirelyPets. We also like your choices of toys for dogs. Great prices and quality.
